Neighbourhood Update

Hello Resident. I hope you’re doing well.

I am Police Community Support Officer Ben Priest here to give you the weekly Neighbour Hood Update.

But first, I must apologise for why a force message was not sent out last week back on Monday the 17th. Due to the fires what we’re occurring across the West Midlands; we were told from our superiors to not send out any social media messages at all. This included messages from WMNow, as the only messages our superiors wanted to come out from West Midlands Police, was about updates on the fires.

What has our team been doing?

Over the past few weeks, our team has been busy with engaging with the community through social events such as Cuppa with a Coppa, Picnic in the park, litter picking around Scotland Lane, Street watch walks ETC. Helping us to be able to speak to people about issues they may have personally or within the community. Allowing us to address it ourselves or refer them to the right service to help address the issue at source. As well as to provide 

Our team have also been keeping themselves busy with arrest’s this week. As they have made a total of 5 arrests in regard to offences committed. We had two who were arrested for failing to appear, one for an emergency recall and one for a theft from shop.

What’s been occurring in Bartley Green

Since the last WMNOW message, we have received two thefts of a motor vehicle. We advise you to ensure that your vehicle is locked and that any windows are fully up and not lowered. We also advise you to install extra security features such as a DISK Lock what will put offenders off from trying to steal your vehicle due to the added strain of the DISK lock. We also advise you to install a Gear stick/handbrake lock as this works just like a DISK Lock, but instead it is for your gear stick/handbrake.

We have also received three reports of criminal damage to a residence within the area of Bartley Green. We advise that you install ring doorbell cameras as well as CCTV Cameras to record any offences what are made. As this will help officers in their investigation in trying to identify any offenders and charge them for criminal damage.

We encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us to solve crimes and get a positive outcome, as your CCTV cameras can provide us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This helps us solves crimes but also helps to keep your community safer.
